Since the start of 2023, teaching staff from Blessed Sacrament and Sacred Heart schools have collaborated on various projects and core curriculum areas. Both schools are also exploring additional extracurricular activities for their student communities. Some examples of this collaboration include:

  • Syllabus development: Teachers responsible for implementing the new K-2 syllabus across both schools are working together, leveraging their expertise and experience to drive efficiency and best practices in syllabus creation.
  • Religious Education Curriculum: Year 6 teachers and RECS from both schools are collaborating to plan and develop the new Religion Education Curriculum, which is being rolled out.
  • Gifted Education Program: Blessed Sacrament is a Newman Selective Gifted Education Program school. Teachers from Sacred Heart can also access resources and expertise, students can benefit from early identification and nomination.
  • Diverse Learning: Teachers from both schools are sharing expertise and resources and working together to refine in-situ screening processes for their students.
  • Expanding extracurricular activities: Students from both schools now have access to a diverse range of extracurricular activities such as Lego, science club, soccer, piano, tennis, ballet, chess, skipping, AFL, basketball, and netball.
  • Learning Walks: Mathematics learning coordinators from both schools are organising Learning Walks, where teachers from each school will visit the other to observe practices and provide feedback, aiming to improve teaching and learning processes.
  • Playgroup initiative: Sacred Heart School has started a playgroup modeled after the successful Blessed Sacrament playgroup, with both schools now promoting each other’s sessions and availability.
  • Staff development days: Staff from both schools will attend development days together and seek opportunities for ongoing collaboration.
